The Fed
The Federal Hotel or “The Fed” as it is affectionately called by the locals is a landmark building in Alstonville’s Main Street. Built in 1901 it is the only two storey timber hotel in Ballina Shire. Built for Mr John Daley in 1901 the completed hotel was said to have thirty-four rooms. Alstonville’s iconic Federal Hotel has welcomed locals and tourists alike for more than 100 years. Inside the original historic building, you will find a friendly, social atmosphere, all-weather dining area and a shady beer garden for families and sporting groups to relax and enjoy live entertainment.
More than just a Hotel
More than a favourite watering-hole, The Fed is a local institution; a place where the community meets and friendships grow. Whilst the Hotel has undergone many refurbishments over the years, the Hotel’s original federation character is balanced alongside the essential features of a modern venue. The Federal Hotel has a historical role in the Alstonville community and proudly supports the local Cricket Club, Hockey Club and Waterpolo Club.
They are also major sponsors of the Alstonville Rodeo Club, the Rotary Club and the Alstonville branch of the RSL, and the unforgettable Annual Pig Racing!
To raise community awareness and support, The Federal Hotel jointly arranges raffles, donates function space and makes numerous other in-kind contributions to keep Alstonville’s community spirit alive and repay the many patrons who have supported the Hotel for so long.
